Do you mean like channeling?

If you do, then here goes.

There is a force that drives the Wheel of Time, or the thing that makes the days go by. This force is called the One Power, or the Source. There is a male half and a female half. The male half is saidin, femal is saidar. The male half was tainted when the Dark One tried to break free and failed, his counterstroke was to taint saidin and make every male channeler go insane with the use of saidin. For females, it is embracing saidar, simply being a river bank and let the water go where it wants, but not let it get out of control. The male half is siezing saidin. It is a torrent of fire and death, an avalanche that if not controlled, will consume the user and crush him beneath the power of it.

Any more quesions?

What they do is simply embrace the Source and then form the weave. Sometimes, if they learned a certain weave by moving their hands with it, then it won't work unless they move their hands too. So, the Aes Sedai simply make say, Fire, out of nothing except the Source. Aes Sedai use weaves, and threads. By combining different threads of Fire, Earth, Water, Spirit, and Air, they make different weaves.
Also, by using a lot of the Power, they also get tired quicker. It saps them, more or less.

Does that help?

If not, then ask on!
